E.G. Sending "use invidious links!" to everyone and even worse asking Eugene to align Mastodon a bit or a least encourage others at least not to feed Google our users and offer a auto-redirect or regular tip about it!!
So same video ID but use the redirect page!
https://redirect.invidious.io/watch?v=R3ptZ1W-FRA
or specific server for same video:
https://invidious.fdn.fr/watch?v=R3ptZ1W-FRA
🤷 Often too much to ask some to do this simple #BetterPractices
- Maybe half try it or do it regularly in their next posts...
- Some are offended though claim to be xyz / against.. the bourgeois let's say sometimes... who don't really want to improve.
The URL cleaning is one thing, but using the site directly I see as similar crime.
ℹ️ By the way, have you seen ClearURLs?
ClearURLs (Removes tracking elements from URLs)
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/clearurls/
Though best use invidious so we all don't have to rely on others to have redirects and even shout @invidious more often and visually.
Often "experts" use shortcuts forgetting others don't have it all so tweaked - and better to show Invidious links than have youtube / tracking / advertising links....
