@freeschool cryptocurrency is a global scam. It's a currency without the backing of a nation-state or central bank.

Considering the wide and unregulated proliferation of cryptocurrency (which lacks the good faith and credit of a reputable governmental authority) I believe it's a counterfeitting operation akin to gift cards or National Bank Notes.

Cryptocurrency is a global scam... or just best we got as choice away from banks and states monopolising / trapping / devaluing it's people (for it's own profit)?...

@gardiner_bryant Ok could be a tough topic but interesting...

I totally accept the energy usage side of things (in which normal money also has a bit of) and various other things but...

If I could unintentionally dig a bit to clarify...

❓ do you believe nation-state and/or central bank is not cheating us / devaluing deliberately ("bail outs" and stealing public money to give to private industry, "Quantum Easing" etc) which equates to massive amounts of well public money legally given / stolen and down the... pockets of others already rich...

So purely on a trust level I'm not even sure / we never know what is backing nation-state or central bank kind of IOU and derivatives-of derivatives of derivatives-of derivatives... which ends up as very similar reselling the same thing many times over or making it another commodity like gift card (which I might take quicker than a bond if I had to stay alive one way or the other!)...

Anyway not making big thing, a lot is based on authority and whatever is accepted for payment, it could well be crypto for government of future too or salt - just whatever they say and whatever we are forced to use I guess!

❓ Just for quick example - would it help you accept it if nation-state and central bank backed crypto? Then would you accept?

Finally "reputable governmental authority" made my brain blue screen a bit as a kind of paradox or opposites in those words together...

❓ Do you trust those you don't know and never asked you mostly making laws for their own benefit almost always?

(just another example question which might be a 'quick' answer or long but anyway I'll assume there's always more to it if you didn't want to go in a bit more depth)

And some fake stuff yes

I am opposed to libertarianism in pretty much all its forms. It's a fake ideology invented wholecloth by monied interests to (a) appeal to American idealism, (b) relies on Soviet disinformation tactics, to (c) convince the general public to go along with their consolidation of economic and political power

I say this because Bitcoin and all other cryptocurrencies are technological incarnations of the feudalistic libertarian agenda. They're designed to undermining the power of democratic governments and promote the private, wealthy elites to the lordship that the American Revolution overthrew.

The lies of "financial freedom" and "deregulation" that crypto bros proffer are seemingly validated by financial austerity measures, etc. But those are inventions of the feudalists designed for...

...that very purpose.

We need to harshly wrestle back control from the monied interests, rather than granting them more control through their fraudulent crypto schemes, their libertarian propaganda, and their austerity measures.

Also, to answer your question: yes, if the US gov't started issuing US crypto tokens backed by the good faith and credit of the federal reserve, I'd be on board.
