This is a big deal:
The W3C, founded in 1994 by web inventor Tim Berners-Lee, has quit X and declared the fediverse to be their primary social media channel. Follow them at: @w3c

6years for wc3 to come back to ActivityPub when it wasn't popular or clear from start isn't too bad...
LONGER VERSION ABOUT PEOPLE CHANGING TO NEW THINGS TAKING TIME...
TLDR; 6years for wc3 to come back to ActivityPub when it wasn't popular or clear from start isn't too bad...
Have to admit, starting a new protocol standard rather than using "same the old thing" (by w3c or whoever) takes time and courage even to think about jumping, and as mainstream forgiven not to switch (imagine if someone said "jump to nostr" or something else) so also a push from Twitter people helps too (nothing like a bad family kicking you out rather than staying imperfectly or abused somewhat)
So *alignment* is happening again in various forms and I'm just reflecting it takes us personally 5 / 10 years to even reflect something sometimes like changing emails and way we do things ourselves - but together we can help each other do it (I got a few people on Mastodon to try it at least)... and then people might make a move later but again forced or from morality is best...
ActivityPub came out 2018 then 5 years later to 2024 now is not that bad... I've personally been on and off so in fact 6 years (from birth) is quite fast (because it's not 6 years, the whole scene needed to warm up, discover etc)-

MUSIC BANDS AND ARTISTS MISSED SIMILARLY
Reminds me of how time flies for some of our favourite music artist etc for 5 years and then we're like "remember I always liked that artist- but why don't I listen to them or follow them so much?"...

LAST BIT
Anyway kudos to all!
Bit of a long story I know about I guess life is and that's how time flies. We even miss people or they miss us... so helps to check good things / hand-hold to help install etc / remind what need / and sometimes do it for them too like your grandma to get them started!...
