Found a new FLGS with a monthly board game day and had a blast on my first time attending 🙂

Started off with Quarriors! Qultimate Quedition barely managing a win from early mid-range monster stock piling that slowly snowballed

Then spent remaining time on Cyberpunk 2077: Gangs of Night City which has some interesting mechanics though too long a game for me to want to repeat

Also picked up a copy of
Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game which looks great

boardgames and gaming in general... demands hours at a time, memory / too complex ! (?)

@s3rvant This look like a great place (have 0 idea where or what it is) and wanted to ask, almost from envy from things bring people together like this, almost "why" do you like this (maybe for you but can generalise)... is it the imagination, design, characters, focus on a game together (like Pokemon etc or whatever)

and on the other side could you say about the game time, takes so long usually or is so complicated / able to make errors so yeah maybe like all things needs depth... but does seem like most are literally not 'pick up and play' more 'spend the first week needing hardcore learning and after you learn you have to teach your whole community!!! So weeks before you play with various people's ability needed in between life.... Aaaanyway I mean well in asking about how nice it is aesthetically but tough to play sometimes which you note with Cyberpunk 2077... how long is long - few hours right?

@freeschool

For me the best part of finding a place like this is the people you meet and friendships formed

I already play games with my family and long time friends as it's one of our favorite hobbies which encourages time face-to-face to talk etc. while also getting to have a fun time together with the game.

Game stores like the above help meet more people with those similar hobbies and certainly also give the opportunity to play games that my family might not be as interested in playing.

@freeschool

Most of the games I play take 5-10 minutes to teach and then 45-60 minutes to actually play. For me this a nice investment as we can play multiple games and sometimes even replay the same games as we have the "ah-ha!" moments with how to better play them.

Cyberpunk 2077 in contract took nearly an hour to setup and teach then 3.5 hours to play. Some like that but for me left too little time to play much else that day. Still had fun with the people at the table though :)

@s3rvant I remember feeling cheated on even mainstream board games like Hasbro / MB Game board where they might say 30mins or something to learn (sorry not proper example if they would say anything at all) and then it always took longer...

but also I can see actually it having meaning to almost only learn forever a game as the fun itself! :)

Fun with people - a rare thing!
