@neil If you can find it a late 70s (!) BBC Horizon episode entitled "Now the Chips are Down" (u.s. pbs name "Nova") - an incredibly prescient programme.
Another precieent series in 1987 called "Welcome to My World" which details all the potential issues with ubiquitous IT.
