If you and your pals have ended up on different services you can still connect using BridgyFed. Hopefully BlueSky federates soon and does away with the need, but until then.

= ? / Same ?

Just wondering what you think of these kinds of typical comments by someone about bridging that might say:

1🔴 "Bridging is exactly what most people came here not to do and on Mastodon (etc) originally to be away from there (Twitter / Meta / Facebook) - so bridging is like going back to these things / regressing the protocol separation... (those kinds of points)...

2🔴 While I might dearly want to contact others elsewhere or feel like it's useful or uniting (maybe the best of worlds) I could just kinda of feel like it's go back to those platforms again and just communicate again on their terms and conditions and having it scraped by them again for whatever they want. (those kinds of points),,,

These kinds of comments interest me in exploring it myself
(currently I'm against).

Few notes:
1✒️ Bluesky began in 2019 as a research initiative at Twitter, becoming an independent company in 2021.

2✒️ Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey left Bluesky Social's board by May 2024 (which for me might show disagreement / it turning into something unwanted). Dorsey was almost a kind of guarantee it would be good since it's part of most of what he does (or more reliable as person than as yet-another-company with promises that chance down the line)
