What's horrifying about this graph is that we're emitting CO2 from fossil hydrocarbons NOW at four times the rate we were when I was a child, and twice the rate we were in 1972, when we already knew that #ClimateChange was an existential problem.

While we're on this topic,

> "More than 1,600 fossil fuel lobbyists have been granted access to the Cop30 climate negotiations in Belém, significantly outnumbering every single country’s delegation apart from the host Brazil"

There surely must be enough trees left in the Amazon rain forest to hang them all.

Hanging wouldn't solve people who can't communicate...

@simon_brooke

And wouldn't solve generations (that grow children as adults or adult with adults) that further can't communicate much with others or only do short replies.

It's not just .

It's you*.

* you = you personal and you plural form

Takes a lot to suck that up and accept that we (even just you and I) need to talk more and it's not just "them" or "the rich" or "the controllers" but you or me that don't make the small circle of culture (from two, four, four-hundred eventually).

Even after having the answer here and now it might be fair to say you're not interested / not going to change / say that you do "in-person" only / don't trust people either way / etc when there's nobody really around there. We should be if anything doing more with more selected people and rather risking more with family or saying it to those that don't want to communicate...

So. What's it to be?
What's the best time to plant a tree*?...

*grow our culture, grow ourselves out of the problem etc ?

Hanging wouldn't solve generations of people who can't communicate.

@freeschool no, you're right, and that was a cheap thing of me to say. And yet, those who take the oil companies' money to deliberately undermine attempts to salvage a habitable planet are doing evil, and know that they are doing evil.

Yes, in a capitalist economy, everyone needs to earn a living somehow. But we all get to choose whose money we take, how much evil we're prepared to do.

If we won't condemn the oil companies' shills to death now, we are condemning our children to death later.

@simon_brooke You can admit it, but can't see I'm asking you for more direct conversation.

After the many attempts another way to say is SNAP OUT OF IT MAN. YOU ARE THE IDIOT HERE TOO.

WE (the many) and even clever can see we are stuck in blaming-mode / a kind of victim-mode expecting them to change. NO YOU FUCKING IDIOT!

They declared their war many times and are clear - including those that stay silent about it.

And here you are wining about not doing what you could as communication with me or others - rather wining and insulting others that give no fucks about you.

I'm sure we all have blind spots but we can do well to point out or test what we say...

I hope this approach works to start fucking fighting back (individuals together and with ourselves first no matter how many we are) else we are more doomed and even more disposing of the future you're wining about.

Look forward to chat soon and you can try insult me back there if you like and really get to work with the problem of "them" not communicating...
