Mastodon is very cute and has some fun features and I think I would have more energy to explore here if I didn’t feel the crushing pressure to rebuild a platform I invested 15 years into 😬

It’s absolutely unfair to treat Mastodon as “backup Twitter,” it’s also unfair that social media platforms — which should just be about chill times and finding cool buds — have become a way for media companies to offload publicity on workers.

Anyway I miss being 20 and being able to treat the internet as fun and unserious; I miss when having a lot of LiveJournal followers was just an ego boost and not something that carried weight in my actual life.

Also I’m just whiny because it’s a rough time to work in media and I’m also trying to build an audience for my bisexuality newsletter (subscribe! bisexuality.substack.com) and everything feels a little Sisyphean. Alas!
