This was entirely predictable. The blue tick had value to journalists and celebrities because it proved their identity, however, now that anyone can buy one for a few dollars it has lost the value it once had. bbc.co.uk/news/technology-6515

@gpowerf verifying famous people must have been to Twitter's own benefit since it would only have increased the site's value. Now it's practically worthless
