5 vehicles not sold here that I would love to have someday. None of these is insanely expensive, they are just average (even affordable) that I really like.
First of all the Mahindra Pik Up Dawn Special Edition. #WeirdCarMastodon #thread
Now for the GWM Tank 300, this beast is not only affordable but also has lockable front and rear diffs. #WeirdCarMastodon
OK, this isn't rare in much of the world. But this one specific version is! The BT-50 Storm available in Australia. #weirdCarMastodon
@gpowerf I wish this category were legal here in Australia. So useful, these microcars.
@vwdasher oh! Are they not? Here they are not classed as cars, they are classed as quadricycles. That's how vehicles like the Citroen Ami manage to be legal. You can also drive them at 16 rather than at 17.
@vwdasher And yes, I think they are massively useful. 👍
@gpowerf I saw so many little cars like this in Amsterdam, they're dead useful for all kinds of users, and circumstance.
@gpowerf Nope, nothing like it allowed on our roads, sadly. The Ami would never be legal here. Such a shame.
@vwdasher I've noticed Australia is super tightly regulated when it comes to cars. Even compared to most European countries.
@gpowerf sadly yes. And these would need to be able to do legal speed limits, which they can't. They'd be classified as cars, not motorbikes. It does vary state to state but overall they wouldn't be legal. It's amazing that our Haflinger is road legal considering its top speed is 80kph but they were registerable back when they were new so they can be registered still thankfully.
@vwdasher Haflingers are super cool BTW! And I'd love to have one in Australia where there are so many remote places to explore with it :D
@gpowerf it's going to be entertaining driving him when he's all fixed up and back on the roads.
@vwdasher enjoy 😄
Finally, the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV because these would be great in busy cities. Ideal second car for local trips.
Is it safe? No, however, don't view this as a "car" this is an ideal alternative to a bike or scooter. On 20 to 30 MPH roads these would be perfect. #weirdCarMastodon
