The current issue with reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete in schools and hospitals in the UK is symptomatic of a generalised lack of investment in infrastructure. And it’s everywhere: housing, hospitals, railways, roads, etc… the UK seems to develop at a glacial pace compared to a large part the world, particularly compared to Asia much of which enjoys futuristic infrastructure by comparison.
And I think the issue will get worse over the coming years and I think it’s doubly economic (no budgets allocated to development) and cultural (too much resistance to anything new). .
