Ugh I miss being online with social scientists and getting to have a community of practice. God there is no place for it anymore.

@grimalkina I've seen physics and math academics bemoaning the same thing here. I hadn't really been participating in Twitter for professional purposes, so I haven't had the same experience personally. I was hopeful for some good physics conversations, but while there are some interesting folks here, overall it seems pretty quiet and conversations just seem to fizzle out pretty quickly.

@internic I had a really positive experience on Twitter and curated what in my opinion was such a nice community. And it was so much more diverse than on here I miss so many people 😭 but yeah all fell apart for social science, I don't think anyone knows where to be really

@grimalkina genuine question, are industry conferences good time/places to get broader reach and even help people find homes on the fediverse? Is that something happening/being discussed?
I wasn't on Twitter (after 2008) so I'm not missing my community but I feel like I've found a good one here (since 2020) and keep wondering about ways to help others find the same without being a "have you just..." reply guy.
