@alyssam_infosec @gingerjet I have not found any evidence to support the claim "Southwest will fix this and the systems that lead up to it".
Here's one huge thing...non-refundable tickets. Literally embedded in SWA's DNA is a way for every flight to be profitable even when you're not on it. It's not a bug, it's a feature.
@alyssam_infosec @gingerjet I think other people have pointed out what to fix. They need new planes, new IT systems, etc. Can they be profitable that way? Is the only reason they were profitable was just being cheap and lucky that this 'black swan event' didn't happen until now?
I don't think they rebuild at all. Changing the biz model takes ALL of the profit out of the business.
To my Texas electrical gird analogy, the massive failure caused billions in damage and over 100 deaths...still there! Governor...still there!
@alyssam_infosec @gingerjet I think SWA will try to slow play this out. PR statements, Blue Ribbon panels, LOTS of vouchers. Maybe fire a few execs. But no major changes. Just wait until the economy improves or ticket demand goes up.
@alyssam_infosec @gingerjet And then there is this take:
"Southwest’s silver lining: Memories of airline debacles fade fast"
Which is probably what they will do since it's the least amount of work and fits their biz model.

@jaysonmassey @gingerjet yeah I've not seen them indicate any changes coming. However, they're also in a full reboot scenario right now (They basically shut down the whole system and are restarting tomorrow).
I do think coming out of this however they won't have any choice but to announce a major strategic move to address this. All their dirty laundry is laid out now and with their stock value plummeting, shareholders and the board are going to be looking for some pretty swift and extensive rebuilding.
