Random #gripe: I find it annoying that I can’t make tea in my stainless steel mugs without the risk that cold water I drink afterwards tastes like iron/blood. 😠 (I’ve accidentally ruined 2 mugs this way)

@jellycrystals I looked up a few articles about this, and it seems that having hot liquids in these steel mugs can eat away the coating they have. Once it happens, one’s lips touching the bare stainless steel causes a reaction with your drink to make it taste like iron. 🤢 I’ll see if I can find those articles again.
@jellycrystals I’ll have to go back to the mugs I banished to the cabinet to see if they still have that metallic taste. Another thing I could do is use the plastic lid that comes with the mugs (if I can find them) to minimize direct contact with the metal. 🤷♀️
@jellycrystals Yeah. This is the article I saw that mentioned acidic drinks possibly eating away the coating on the stainless steel mugs, or perhaps it’s a reaction between one’s lips and the bare metal. But it’s the only real article I found that says this, so take it with a grain of salt:
