This is beyond insulting. I have 3 kids in two different schools & a husband who teaches at a highschool. Not only is wasteful spending not even close to being an issue, schools are desperately trying to make ends meet with aging infrastructure and funding cuts to essentials like special-needs teachers & CYWs.

Well beyond. Every single time I've seen means testing introduced, with 'waste' cited as a reason, the real reasons behind it are greed, spite, and a deep and abiding desire to cause harm.
It's also a quick road to nepotism and corruption. Who's going to be doing these audits? Do they have ties to Calandra? What sort of advantage would Calandra have in pushing this?
And wouldn't the money for expensive and wasteful audits be better spent on propping up a flagging provincial school system which has had decades of Conservative cuts to contend with?
@theogrin @cbcnews @ottawa-cbcnews Absolutely. And I find it's often a prefix for attacking teachers when contract negotiation time comes. The #Ontario government never misses an opportunity to paint teachers as entitled, lazy & overpaid.
Meanwhile no one realizes the depth of the mental health crisis among kids and the absence of parenting (parents are struggling & working too much) that results in a torrent of non-education related problems teachers have to deal with daily.
There hasn't been a semester in my recent memory that my husband hasn't had to deal with students having episodes of depression, self-harm, abuse, sexual assault, etc.
Tell me more about "waste" when teachers are also expected to be therapists too. 😡
@syntaxseed I reckon it was harder much more because school time is just "time away" from kids and having to go back to simply being with them for more than ususal time... A selfish thing.
