In the early days of Wikipedia I created a fake entry about my village that included a fake Lord in the middle ages named after an 80s B Movie action hero. It is still up and being taught in the local Primary school as fact.

@fesshole What are you confessing here for? Get down to the school, talk to the staff about making amends by teaching the children about not believing everything they read or hear.

And sort Wikipedia for fix sake!

@wilpercy @fesshole I highly doubt this is true. Wikipedia gets very unwarranted shit for being inaccurate or biased. This "confession" would seem to serve two goals:

1) get people digging around on a snipe hunt (you'll find snipe there btw)

2) increase the social idea that wikipedia can be riddled with inaccuracies on purpose.

I threw down a decade ago or something and grafitied a beer page. It lasted like 5 seconds.

@crazyeddie @fesshole who knows if the fessor was mucking about or genuine? I detected a whiff of pride and it grated when so much of what is wrong with the world is down to deliberate dishonesty.

Having said that, I enjoyed reading about en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_hag
