Umm… say what now???
🚨🚨🚨
The agreement the #DOJ made with #Trump to settle his lawsuit against the #IRS includes a provision BARRING the agency from pursuing #tax claims against Trump, his family or his businesses. The new provision was released a day after DOJ agreed to settle Trump’s lawsuit by creating a $1.8 billion compensation fund for people *he believes* were wronged by federal investigations or prosecutions.
[This is effing nuts. We KNOW #Trump cheated on his #taxes. Just look at the NY v #TrumpOrganization lawsuit where he was found liable for decades of #fraud.]
In a one-page document signed by acting AG #ToddBlanche & quietly posted on the #DOJ website, officials vowed not to pursue any matters, including those involving Trump’s tax returns, that are currently pending.

Neither the #DOJ nor the IRS responded to requests seeking comment. The top lawyer at the #Treasury, Brian Morrissey, resigned on Monday after the DOJ announced the settlement with #Trump.
DOJ officials have in part defended the creation of the “anti-weaponization” fund by pointing to the fact that Trump & his family members will not be paid by it.
But protection from audit would be hella remunerative for Trump. In 2024, NYT reported that a loss in an IRS audit could cost Trump >$100 million.
