@stux far more people are accidentally killed by guns kept in the home than people who have used guns to defend themselves in their home (especially children). I don’t get the paranoia where everyone thinks everyone else is trying to break into their homes and kill them, so they need to have a bunch of guns. I also don’t think people realize how traumatic it is to take someone else’s life. If someone breaks into my house, I don’t want to kill them. I don’t want to live with that for the rest of my life. I have insurance. There is a huge gap between robbery and cold blooded murder. I doubt anyone breaking into my house has murder on their mind.

And, far more people die from accidents in general than from attacking someone. And, the number of accidental deaths from driving is far higher than guns. And, accidental deaths to guns versus gun ownership is also extremely low.

One off statistics without context tend to be vacuous.
