I'm swearing profusely at the modern web again

To the sites that limit password length: what the fuck are you thinking? If you're storing the passwords as hashes (which you'd fucking better be, or I will find you) why the hell does it matter to you if the password is 16 or 1600 characters? What, your shitty code made by an unpaid intern that you're overworking in your endless crusade for more and more profits can't handle that many? Well, fuck you! I don't give a shit! There is absolutely no excuse for forcing terrible security on your users, who your irresponsable ass probably blames when a data breach occurs and all of the passwords are cracked in 15 minutes. Fuck you, you should not have been allowed to run a website, you horrible piece of shit.
@usernameswift by far, the worst offenders are government services and banks. And I hate both.
@getimiskon Yeah, I've had quite the experience with online banking. That's one of the things that needs to be secured the most, and they're always the ones going "sorry, but you can only have 16 characters in your password"...

Y'all think this is a half-assed attempt to prevent more sophisticated SQL injection?

No idea, honestly, but my guess is that someone wasn't 100% sure how to sanitize their inputs and decided to limit input length and special character sets to cover themselves, just in case.

I personally think I should be able to use full unicode for my passwords, who's with me? 😂

@johnabs @getimiskon Yeah! Let me put flags and Bulgarian characters in my online banking password!
