@sim my assumed favourite of released in 2022 is probably going to be All Quiet on the Western Front, which i havent seen yet.
But of movies i saw last year, these stand out in some manner to me
Barfly (1987), a slooow as fuck movie based on the poet Charles Bukowski's life, with screenplay by charles bukowski, about romanticizing the lower class life in L.A.
I think I saw Hostel 1 (2005) as well start of this year, fantastic gory horror movie.
Hot Fuzz (2007), quite good bri'ish humor movie
Office Space (1999), comedy, by Mike Judge (of Beavis and Butthead, and King of the Hill fame), worth watching just alone for the meme's this has generated.
Sea fever (2019), semi-horror, seafaring fisherboat find themselves in some trouble
Journy to China The Mystery Of Iron Mask (2019), a chinese action movie, featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger as the bad guy, and scenes you have to see to believe they actually put in a movie. Entertaining from start to finish, doubly especially if you have someone with you to point and laugh with something, but also great to watch alone
And probably my last year's top pick, but I cannot recommend it too easily:
Nightmare Alley (2021). It sure made me feel things.
And of the movies i did not enjoy at all, the most noteworthy, is Pig (2021), a nicholas cage movie with 97% (!!!!) on rotten tomatoes, that i for the life of me couldnt in any way relate to or enjoy. it did feel like an ironic shitpost though.
