I've been doing R&D (in software) all my professional career and I kind of estimate pretty well my projects...
You have to be smart about things, but it works.
@ekaitz_zarraga Hi! I should confess I am not very fond of estimating, but I have to admit there is something valuable going on whenever you are going through the process. It's a great mental exercise and makes you think quite seriously about where you are standing.
When I think about why I came to not liking it, I sometimes guess that it might be due to some stakeholders taking it as some axiom written on stone, and not taking into account that the unexpected can occur.
Or maybe because I am bad at it! 🤣
@keyeoh You are basically pointing at the problem very well. Estimates in corporate setup are a political weapon ready to be used against you.
I'm happy that I don't work in that kind of context.
