Hello synapse.cafe!

Just migrated from sciencemastodon, a perfectly good instance, but I think this will feel a little more like home. Anyway, #introduction time again!

I’m an assistant #professor at the University of Manitoba in #Winnipeg. I run the #Invertebrate #Neuroethology #Laboratory, where we study #AnimalBehavior, #Neuroscience, and #BehavioralEcology. We are interested in the #NeuralCircuits of #Learning, #Memory, and #DecisionMaking, especially with respect to #TimeMemory, other areas of #Chronobiology, and #MultisensoryIntegration. We work mostly with #HoneyBees (#Apis #mellifera), but we like all #inverts!

@vannestlab so question - why did you feel the need to change servers? I am fairly new here so still trying to figure all this stuff out.

@kswilcox New here too. No idea what I'm doing! 😁 It wasn't a need, really. I tried joining Mastodon in the middle of an Elon-related surge. Was looking for a neuro-related instance, but most were inundated and not taking new users. So I joined sciencemastodon.com. It's fine but is a community of science journalists more than scientists. Less than 2h after creating my account, I found synapse.cafe. It's kind of the vibe I was looking for. Then it took me this long to finally migrate over.
