China is implementing a law that limits kids to only playing video games 3 hours a week.

Fortnite (Tencent / Epic) helped them out with that by creating face recognition technology to detect when kids were trying to get around the previous 10 PM to 8 AM ban.

Microsoft is going to require 1280x720 15 FPS HD webcams with auto-exposure and auto-white balancing in computers using Windows 11 starting in 2023, except for desktop PCs.

Next step: China bans desktop PCs.

The restriction on gaming is old news. Further bans/restrictions are expected as the government enforces what's been termed something along the lines "reculturization". Major tech companies are starting to lose interest in partnerships with China due to a series of restrictions placed on them, forcing their hands. This is not to say there won't be any involvement at all- but not as much as before the recent movement.

@lucifargundam I think I went down this train of thought because I was thinking about how much of how we design products and movies and shows here in the US is being influenced by decisions in the Chinese Communist government so American companies can keep raking in those sweet Chinese renminbi. Maybe that’s a good thing, though. I wonder how much gayer movies would be if they didn’t need to get past Chinese censors.
