so I found an ipod in a box and given the pinephone doesn't really have the surplus battery life to act as an MP3 player I figured I'd try it out

plugged it into my computer and ... it boot loops.

left it on a wall charger over night and it seems to have come good, though that's hardly a good sign lmao

now I have to figure out how the fuck to actually copy music to it

the iRiver one I had years ago was real simple, you plugged it in, it was a USB mass storage device, you copied music files to it, it played them
did I mention that it feels like the cable is about to come apart in my hands? it isn't damaged or anything, it just feels spectacularly flimsy
@lucifargundam 24 hours seems wildly optimistic given this thing would be ... however many years old.

It's less that the pinephone won't last X long (though it probably won't, you want it to be sleeping as much as possible on battery), and more that I don't want to waste the battery playing music when I might need to make a call on it

@izaya

both extremely good points... can't really do much more than that other than replace batteries. probably not worth it though.

@lucifargundam okay no it has zero battery life

guess I'll hope I stumble onto the iRiver one I had, it actually worked.
