I think as a "fuck you" to people who use Matrix, XMPP, or Discord, I will instead run an IRC server. let's just stop pretending and admit that everything else is hopelessly bad

@mia it has less room to fail and implementing a client is trivially easy, also IRCv3 is adding a lot of nice new stuff
@mia IRC is the only good chat protocol because it also sucks but doesn't try to pretend like it doesn't
