Buying cheese pizza allows you a base to present the most picky of eaters, that also allows you to entertain the toppings of the most extravagant.
Prepping food early only means you don't have to cook later. If they wanted something special, they should have said so sooner. Otherwise, be happy to have handmade food on the table made especially for them.
@lucifargundam My in-laws are in town this week, so I'm off cooking duty for the most part. I wanted to grill out today but then a blizzard hit!
Their cold lunches are pretty simple affairs. Luckily for me, my daughter eats whatever they're making for hot lunch at school.
Could make the lunchbox out of ice and carve her name in it, along with "icebox".
Throw in some hot ice for dramatic effect, if she's safe with it.
