Maybe it's one of those weird genetic things. Like cilantro tastes like soap to some people https://www.britannica.com/story/why-does-cilantro-taste-like-soap-to-some-people (me) or brussel sprouts taste nasty to others https://www.compoundchem.com/2014/12/04/brusselssprouts/ (not me).

Yeah, I didn't live durian the first time I tried it. I think it was about the third/ fourth time I fell in love.
