I used to work at Morgan Stanley, in the same department, when he got hired. I found him to be incredibly "biased" and frankly I think he is unable to think much outside the box.

This "sudden" change to safety (he was made aware of these types of problems in the mid-1990s) is only prompted by the perceived threat of Rust replacing C++, and Rust proving that it can be as efficient.
