There's a balance between presenting issues and presenting a way beyond them. IIRC there were numerous points at which comics even in the early period tackled and addressed issues such as fascism.
Also, calling the 1920's–1980's the "early capitalist period" seems a bit off given that capitalism started in the 1700's.
