Comment on a post about and the possibility of from : "without Crown Royal, we'll run into a national shortage of bags."

@medigoth those were also our marble bags when I was a kid!

@bassoonwrath they're multipurpose!

After the collapse, when the survivors admit they're living in Mad Max world, CR bags will become carefully hoarded relics of The World That Was.

@medigoth

Yeah, back in the day a velvet Crown Royal bag repurposed as a polyhedral dice bag was the hallmark of a hardcore Dungeons & Dragons player.

Since you were probably too underaged and too broke to buy a bottle, you had to find a rich old friend and beg for the bag when the bottle had been emptied.

@nyrath You definitely wouldn't want anyone to think you were a paperback player!

@medigoth Non-North American here: what is "Crown Royal"?

@cstross @medigoth

Crown Royal is a blended Canadian whisky brand created by Seagrams. The bottles are packaged in velvet bags. The bags are highly prized by players of Dungeons and Dragons. D&D players use the velvet bags to store their collections of polyhedral dice.

@nyrath @cstross @medigoth I imported a bottle to Sweden just for this very purpose!

@cstross I see your question has already been answered. I love the internet.

A friend on Facebook helpfully provided links to several other liquors, some US-made, which come with handy bags. My reply was, "That's just what Big Dice Bag *wants* me to think. Or drink, as the case may be."
