why are we even programming in text
scratch-like imperative programming or even better yet flowcharts are a vastly better way of representing programs

@tuxcrafting you're supposed to have a mental model like that of the text. the text is just a more efficient way to encode that.

@mewmew why have to translate it to text? it would be vastly more efficient to have the computer directly understand it

@tuxcrafting because for most people it's a lot faster to type in a programming language than to create something in Scratch.

@mewmew maybe not scratch but imagine a flowchart based language with an editor that automatically arranges nodes and allows to add nodes with keyboard hotkeys
if correctly trained to it this would be more efficient to write since algorithms effectively don't need to be "translated" to a 1d text representation and more efficient to parse as well since the structure is inherent in the program
