@borrisinabox So why the big mastodon.social? Thinking of moving to a different one myself--qoto uses a forked instance and I think it'll read better if I'm somewhere else. They have done some cool things re: customization though.Able to open local timelines from other places etc. You can do this with other sites as well, so I wouldn't be missing much there.
@ner I've been here since 2018, and right now, it's working.
@borrisinabox Yep, fair enough. I'd like a more manageable local timeline, so want to stay away from that one. We'll see where I land. Did apply for mastodon.social with callsign, lots of #hamradio people on there.
@borrisinabox The web isn't too hard to use I suppose. Downloaded metatext and It's fine for what it does. I do wish it had an easier way to freaking compose a post.
@borrisinabox I think it's really cool. I have way more interesting reading on here than I ever did on Twitter. Used to use it only for news and junk
@ner I'm not really sure what's so hard about composing on Metatext, though. There's a compose button on the right side of the screen one row up from the tabs. Hit it and write stuff.
@borrisinabox I noticed the tabs, but didn't see the compose button on the bottom right above tabs. I'll hunt again. Magic tap would be helpful but it's not necessary.
@borrisinabox Found it interesting that the hash tag #thursday was trending earlier today. We need to get #ThursdayDumb trending some day.
@ner Yeah, I am using Tweesecake for Windows and Metatext on iOS. I initially didn't see the point for joining more than one, but the local timeline thing and the ability to compartmentalize in some ways is cool.
