Catching me off guard
I laughed loudly, head thrown back
So he tells it again

Knowing it would twist
It still gave me a chuckle
So he told it again

Not surprised at all
I merely smiled politely
So he told it again

Having heard enough
I turned away from this bore
But he kept my pace

Telling, retelling
The same joke and guffawing
I could not escape

At last the storm broke
I laughed at sanity lost
His eyes shone triumph
