A new word for me: a boodler. A know a boodle is an amount of money. In context, the boodler was a politician who took bribes, so it means a grafter.
One of my favorite sentences, which may have never been spoken is, "Begorrah, he nipped me boodle!"
@rjblaskiewicz I’ve never heard “grafter” in that context. In the UK it signifies someone who works assiduously.
