Dear burger franchises: why do your vegetarian burgers always have to be some kind of a special deal?

You got the patties already, just let me pick my favorite kind of burger and replace the meat with a vegetarian patty. It's not that hard.

@fribbledom I suspect it's slightly more difficult than that lol

Follow

@fribbledom In regards to production. Production machines aren't always just plug and play with what goes in them. Different ingredients have different densities, viscocities etc.

@obi

Where I live even the biggest franchises still assemble their burgers by hand.

@fribbledom Ohhhhhhhh. They make the patties right there? I was referring to franchises that ship patties to each franchise. Every item will have it's own machine setup to make that patty to a specific size, from a specific ingredient. If you want a replace the exact same size burger patty, with a vegetable based one, you would need to add another machine, and set it up according to the ingredients. Each machine is millions in parts and labor to set up

@fribbledom But if they already have the patties, it's no big deal. I went back and read your original toot, i didn't see that they had the patties already. My bad!
