Agreed 100%! However, in 2019 apparently #Mastodon became a war zone because of CW's! 😳

There was a standoff between its special interest group early adopters, & Mastodon's developers/instance owners.

This is when it was reiterated that CW's were down to the individual, but the special interest groups wouldn't yield.

They created several external "Housekeeping" blogs with unofficial rules & etiquettes & literally bullied all newcomers to comply! 🙄

Thankfully they've disappeared.

I recall seeing several of these points being made when I first joined Mastodon & a particular case of a Sociology student was cited.

During a college class, the emotive subject of child abuse was tackled, which triggered a student who'd suffered this as a child.

The CW Mafia claimed this is why CW's are vital. However it was countered that the greater importance was the student requiring help to finally deal with this lasting trauma, not more ways to bury it, & I agreed. 🙏🏾
