Discussion of homophobia, pedophilia, subpost, this is unimportant and unserious, simply my musings because I felt the desire to write about it

people with sick desires should not act on them

While, I agree with this, when it’s about murder or pedophilia, I disagree with it when it’s said about gay or trans people

And that is, interesting

I, believe that good things are good, and bad things are bad, so telling someone that they should not act on their desires because those desires hurt others seems fine to me

But, in the same way this kind of feels like it validates the arguments of queerphobes that I’ve encountered, while my personal morality tends to be “what is good for everyone, with consideration for the well being and freedom (not in the american sense of the word) of the individual” someone who is deeply religious can make my same argument that being gay is bad because you hurt yourself/god and therefore it shouldn’t be allowed

The argument uses the same logical framing but relies on a non-materialist view of the world to be applied, I guess it comes down to if you believe in that specific god, if you do then that argument is sound to you

It is interesting that both of these are the same kind of argument, with the difference being the moral framework (one being “hurting people bad”, the other being “sins are bad because god said so and being gay is a sin”)

re: discussion, crimes, sexual abuse of minors, murder, rape, mental health

@Clover I do agree with the analysis:

"Victimless Crimes" should not be penalized, whereas violating someone's right to exist or [not just but espechally a minor's] sexual consent are definitely crimes thar do create victims!

Both kinds of people (or actually everyone) should have easy access to professional therapy and help BEFORE they commit any felonies!

Because it's important to look at the root causes and work on those...

@kkarhan @Clover Honestly, everyone should probably have access (even if they don't use / need it) to a strong mental health service. A useful by-product is that you'd probably have fewer crimes (although, I'm sure it's useful for reasons other than that). Better socioeconomic conditions would also probably help, including more people having housing...

It also doesn't involve violating human rights.
