Some good news: For now, chat control is off the table.

On Thursday, since EU member states were unable to agree on a position, the EU Council Presidency has removed the vote from the agenda.

Germany and France had declared they would have voted against the proposal, while Check republic would have abstained the vote.

There had been intense protests upfront, messenger service Threema declared it would have left Europe if the proposal were accepted.
