It also kind of works on non-modded Mastodon, if you link the post you want to quote, but a nicer design for that would be great.
But it's in the pipeline and the feature will arrive, eventually :D
I really think the lack of quote posts is one of the bigger reasons, people prefer other networks.
Especially fandoms use them on a daily basis to learn about and connect with others.
