To be clear, "Arthur" was actually sentenced for child abuse. Misinfo about this often comes from when Prostasia reported on the case a number of years ago (although, by mistake).

The case involved a number of due process violations and procedural weirdness (violations of this kind have been addressed). The Fifth Circuit shouldn't have done that. This is likely where the confusion stemmed.
