The game at the top of "The Hotness" on BoardGameGeek is now Brass: Birmingham.

It dethroned Gloomhaven, which still sits at #2. #3 is the sequel, Frosthaven.

#4 is ... Sail? A game with 5 ratings? What's going on here?

@peterdrake *googles* even though I’m still learning Underwater Cities

@peterdrake “What's going on here?” The BGG rankings are a hot mess, that’s what’s going on.

@peterdrake The Hotness is about what games people are paying attention to, not which ones are rated highly. It's based on how many people are clicking into the game's "profile" page. The list is usually about new and shiny games, but everyone's been clicking through to Brass and Gloomhaven because the former has also superseded the latter in Geek Rating, which looks like this:

@rngesus_wept Okay, but why are so many people clicking on Sail? It doesn't have mind-blowing components or a famous designer. It looks like a Kickstarter, but doesn't have a ton of people commenting that they've ordered it.

@peterdrake 🤷 Maybe boardgametables-dot-com did a recent publicity push?
