I think I just cooked up the NPC version of an aging celebrity who pays the bills by shilling for the companies that run the weird daytime ads on network TV.

Aging famous adventuring mercenary, now 30 years past his prime, touring the world doing the equivalent of self-help coaching for the world's wannabe adventurers, and selling thinly veiled sales pitches to corporate sponsors.
