"this is not "normal Scrabble": the new game, which will soon go on sale across Europe, is designed to encourage players to work together, rather than competing against each other."
"The makers of Scrabble found that younger people, Gen Z people, don't quite like the competitive nature of Scrabble. 'They want a game where you can simply enjoy language, words, being together and having fun creating words'."

@Wileymiller @deborahh Real life is neither purely competitive nor purely cooperatives. You do have to stand up for yourself, but to some degree we're all in this together.
There are good games where two teams compete (Bridge, Captain Sonar, team sports). There are good games where everyone works against a hidden traitor (Shadows Over Camelot, Betrayal at House on the Hill). There are also excellent, challenging games where everyone competes against the game (Pandemic, Flash Point, Gloomhaven, Ghost Stories).
@peterdrake thanks for the tips!
I've really enjoyed CozyJuicyReal (board game and online version) where the goal is simply to reflect, talk and be kind, using the game's prompts https://cozyjuicyreal.com/
It's not for everyone; I've found it fun & thought-provoking, good for getting to know people, or for getting people to talk a bit about themselves. In my family, this is a revolutionary suggestion; the boys have refused to play without even looking at the game! #eww
