@brettcannon @tonybaloney I don’t know about you guys, but for me in my early 20s it was like, “Oh giant metal spike pierced several vital organs; the doctor said it would take a month to heal but I was pretty much fine on week 3.”
Now it’s like, “I stood up in a weird way and now my right arm tingles whenever I turn left. The doctor said I should give it 6 months but I’ll be happy if the tingling is less noticable in 2 years…”
@hynek @pganssle @tonybaloney Yep, the young folks don't appreciate measuring injuries in days and weeks instead of months or years.
Louis C.K. had a great bit about this and how you reach a point where fixing something isn't worth it because you have no chance of becoming a professional athlete anymore. 😜
@brettcannon @hynek @pganssle I still play amateur soccer for 5 months of the year and swim/paddle for the other 7. Injury cadence is monthly but I figure I’d rather get old covered in bruises, scars and injuries but still be relatively fit on the inside 🤔 our soccer team is sponsored by the local physio and pharmacy since they profit so much from all these old guys trying to relive their youth
@tonybaloney @brettcannon @pganssle lol that’s like Dunkin’ Donuts sponsoring a weed conference
@tonybaloney @hynek @pganssle Oh yeah, I don't plan to stop either, hence not even thinking to not jump 8 weeks after fracturing my toe and thinking I shouldn't do that anymore or something (the day I literally can't jump into bed ever again is when I consider myself old)
@pganssle @brettcannon @tonybaloney Young ppl are literally Wolverine and they just won’t appreciate it.
I think I dislocated my thumb while typing this
