To be fair I do think these signs are primarily there to communicate that the button doesn't affect the timing of the signal.

@pganssle at least it's understandable (if you understand English). In Germany, we use a yellow circle with three black dots (which is usually worn by blind people as an armband) directly on the button. And people aren't getting it at all. Every single day I walk up to a traffic light with such a button and wait, and someone arrives after me and passive-agressively presses the button as if I forgot 🙈
