I was poking around the Mastodon APIs and I can't find a way to have a bot hide individual posts for me, only update my filters list. Am I missing something?

@brettcannon That's a really neat idea.

I'm honestly not sure what I'd actually want to point such a bot at.

Possibly posts that mention various keywords without using appropriate Content Warnings. It kinda pains me how so many people are so willing to deny folks the tools they need to protect their mental health.

@feoh I want to use AI to automatically hide all US political posts. I have an extensive word filter list going, but it isn't perfect and some words could be used in open source conversations as well.

@brettcannon @feoh Did you ever figure out how to do this? Any chance if an open source or shareable implementation if so?

Been hoping to do exactly this for years and years.

@pganssle Personally I think you'd need to write your own client, which wouldn't be terrible but is also more work than one might be willing to take on given the nature of the problem.

Kind of sad that this is even necessary. When I first came here, EVERYONE who posted about politics would use the appropriate CW tags so folks could protect their mental health.

The refugee stream from Twitter doesn't and won't care.
