Full tech circle of self hosting

Kubernetes or even "simple" Docker compose cluster makes this quite effortless. Running it, keeping it up, maintaining underlying OS on VMs up to date, keeping whole thing if not super secure then at least acceptably secure is easy and while doing that causing downtimes is actually hard. You need to, like, really do your best to knock it down intentionally.

Everything I like modern tech for which makes my life easier also makes self-hosting easier.

@casastorta It's totally wild to me how robust and relatively easy to set up services are nowadays.

The last time I played with hosting stuff was probably 10 odd years ago. Now, it takes me 10 minutes to spin up a new webservice on my Docker stack. It's absolutely mind blowing to me every time I do it.
