I think present day humans are intelligent enough and technology is advanced enough to find cure for aids and cancer. I believe the pharma companies are blocking scientists from researching on these (by cutting off their fund) because they cannot earn huge money if these fatal diseases are cured permanently. (I already read an article which says pharma companies are not interested in investing in the research of new antibiotics, because they think they cannot get their money back). Any thoughts?

@raining_night I dunno that logic doesnt make sense on a few accounts...

First its the fact that they make more money curing the diseases. Think about it this way, Most cancer treatment is generic branded, things like chemotherapy. So if they created a cure they would hold a monopoly and can charge whatever they want. This would make them a lot more money.

Second, if you let people die off then you miss out on the lifetime of drugs they might need for other ailments they will get. Killing off your customers is never good for business.

The pharmaceutical business is not the only one funding this. There is a **huge** amount of money being dumped into research for cures from non-profit organizations. So much so that if there was a cure that we were close to discovering, it would be discovered.

@freemo can't argue with your logic. I agree with your point "killing off customers doesn't make business sense to pharma companies". I also agree with the point about generic medicines.
