@timhutton
The representation is extremely hard to understand; what molecules are these? Is it a molecular dynamics simulation?
@timhutton
Damn, this is extremely complicated!
What are the premises and parameters?
What is the metrics that you use to determine if that system can evolve complex life?
@rastinza There's an entire field of Artificial Life devoted to the questions of how to evolve complex life on computer and how to measure it. The papers linked on my profile might be a place to start reading but I certainly don't have the answers.
@rastinza @timhutton IIRC you can look at challenge 3.4 in this: https://github.com/timhutton/livingphysics but I haven't played around with it in a long time. Optimizing these kinds of simulations would be a lot of fun!
@davidphys1
Thanks, I'll be taking a look into the paper and thus simulation.
This stuff looks interesting, even though I did not really understand what it is yet.
@timhutton
@rastinza It's an artificial chemistry, so they don't correspond to any real-world molecules. Each moving square is an abstract atom with some properties - in this case just an integer. And the physics isn't supposed to be realistic. The aim is to understand what properties a system must have in order to evolve complex life.
