@wmd
Really?
In Italy we get cheap vegetables below 1€, normal ones below 2€ and expensive ones for less than 3€.
Cheap meat (the interiors) start at around 6-7€ per kilo. Except chicken, which can be cheaper and even reach 3.5€ per kilo for a full one, however you have to consider the weight of bones.
Legumes can be found at around 2€ per kilo dried.

In Slovenia and Spain the situation is quite similar.
In Poland I have noticed some very cheap sausages and pastet, but I doubt anyone with enough buying power to afford something else would buy those things often.
Vegetables were still cheaper.

What areas of the world are you talking about?
@Blumenkuebel @muellertadzio

@Blumenkuebel
I don't understand your reply.
Do you mean that meat is cheaper than vegetables in Germany?
It appears to me that you're implying that in rich countries meat is cheaper than vegetables, but that's really not the case, Slovenia, Italy and Spain are also rich countries but don't have meat cheaper than vegetables.

Or do you mean that since Germany is a rich country people eat meat every day despite the fact that it's more expensive than vegetables?
If this is the case, however, I would expect poor people in Germany to consume less meat than rich people.
@wmd @muellertadzio

@Blumenkuebel @wmd @muellertadzio
That's something important to consider when discussing the reduction of consumption.
Surely the production of meat is more expensive than that of vegetables.
Later I'll take a look at the prices in Norway and after that I'll see if I can find something about Germany.
If meat is actually cheaper I'd be fascinated to discover how that's possible.

@rastinza @wmd @muellertadzio

But it does! You should read Karl Marx to understand capitalism.

@wmd @rastinza @muellertadzio

This is my topic that you have entered into! Could it be that you are a bit stupid?

@wmd
I'm afraid that we have been blocked by @Blumenkuebel for some reason.
Let's go back to replying to the toots before he came as otherwise it could be difficult to retrieve the full thread.
I'm sorry that this happened, I tried behaving calmly and understandingly with him but it appears I was not good enough.
I do not like when people behave in this way, but what can you do after all... @muellertadzio

@Blumenkuebel
I have read Karl Marx and cannot imagine what you would mean by that.
This is not what we were talking about and you're adding nothing useful to this discussion.
Please, try understanding what's the subject of the discussion, think about it and see if you can provide something interesting about it.
If you want to talk about capitalism that's fine, we can talk about it, but don't do it here please.
